Author: Alison Cameron
Alison Cameron’s career running international development projects was cut short when she was diagnosed with PTSD. Consequences included multiple admissions to hospital, homelessness and identity loss. She became motivated to use her experiences to bring about positive change in the services she had to use. She advises NHS and social care organisations on working in genuine equal partnership with those using services and was the first Patient Leader to be accepted on to the Mary Seacole Programme by the NHS Leadership Academy.
She was named by the Health Service Journal as one of 50 Inspirational Women in Healthcare for 2014.
