Mammography Associate – Level 4 (with Edward Jenner) Apprenticeship

The occupation is found in a hospital or in a community setting such as in mobile breast screening units and medical centres working in a multidisciplinary team. The broad purpose of the occupation is to work within the breast imaging workforce undertaking routine two-view mammography which are x-ray images of breasts as part of a breast screening programme. Mammography Associates operate specialist equipment used to undertake routine mammography on individuals with symptoms of breast disease.

This apprenticeship combines the NHS Leadership Academy’s Edward Jenner programme with a Level 4 Mammography Apprenticeship.

Breast screening assistant practitioner, mammography assistant practitioner and Mammography associate.

Duration

12 months to 2 years  

How you will learn

Online. In programme learning will be delivered as a blended model, including learning in groups via Microsoft Teams and use of the College’s virtual learning environment, Moodle.

What’s covered

You will develop skills in clinical mammography, mammography science, professional practice, quality assurance, communication and team working, and health and safety.

Entry requirements

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Be employed in Breast Screening Units or Symptomatic Units
  • Be legally allowed to work in the UK
  • Have lived in the UK for the last three years
  • Have passed and can evidence a level 2 Functional Skill in English AND Maths (or equivalent qualification GCSE old grade C, or new grade 4) or at the minimum ONE of these.

For those who do not hold both of these English and Maths qualifications the apprentice will study the qualification not yet achieved as part of the Apprenticeship. Passing this is a compulsory requirement to progress to end point assessment.
