How you will learn
The programme, which has had two previous cohorts is currently undergoing a refresh. This is to ensure content and the delivery model best supports aspirant chairs to prepare for the challenges of the role in the current health and care landscape whilst making the best use of technology.
Delivery of the programme:
- This programme starts with a face to face welcome event in London on March 20, 2025 bringing together all participants along with key speakers and the facilitation team who will support you on the journey throughout the programme.
- The programme has six modules, module one and module six will be face to face and modules two to five will be virtual.
- At the end of the programme a learning summit event will conclude participants journey and provide a final networking opportunity.
- Content and knowledge is also delivered online through a virtual campus, using a mix of material including videos, interviews, articles and reports. You have the flexibility to access this at a time that suits you.
- There will be six face-to-face or virtual, bi-monthly, smaller pathway groups, where you will work with facilitators and fellow participants to share perspectives and undertake board level scenarios.
- You will be asked to identify areas for development which are particularly relevant to you and demonstrate the progress you need to make to be an effective and transformational chair.
- Mentoring will also be a key part of your journey. You will be mentored by an experienced chair
Recruitment and selection:
- The application window is from November 28, 2024 to January 10, 2025 at 12 noon
- A virtual one-hour assessment and interview will take place for shortlisted candidates from February 10 to 14, 2025.
Programme costs
For those working within health and care provider organisations, the programme is fully funded by NHS England.

Cohort information
We will be recruiting for one cohort to commence on 20th March 2025 with up to 40 participants.
