Laboratory Technician – Level 3


Laboratory Technician – Level 3 (with Edward Jenner) Apprenticeship

You will carry out both routine and one-off laboratory testing (and manufacturing where relevant) and perform a variety of technical support functions across the organisation. This occupation is found in a wide range of organisations, including but not exclusively, chemical, primary and secondary pharmaceutical, biotechnology, formulated products and analytical science services, dental laboratories and educational establishments.

This apprenticeship combines the NHS Leadership Academy’s Edward Jenner programme with a Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship.  


Who is it for?

Laboratory Assistant (prefixed by sector) and Laboratory technician.

Duration

A total of 24 months.

How you will learn

College attendance once every other week.

What is covered

You will develop skills in science fundamentals, microbiology, understanding the regulatory environment, product testing techniques, and controlling hazards in the laboratory. You will also gain experience with laboratory techniques, quality procedures, data protection, and the analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of data.

Entry requirements

Level two English and maths.
