Senior Leaders are a key component of all types of business model where there is a workforce to lead, manage and support. Those completing this apprenticeship will learn to provide clear, inclusive, and strategic leadership and direction relating to their area of responsibility within an organisation.
Since 2013, over 2,300 leaders have participated in the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Programme. The newly developed Senior Leader Apprenticeship with Elizabeth Garrett Anderson provides an alternative pathway, building on the success of the existing programme and incorporating the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for a Senior Leader Apprenticeship award.
Complete this apprenticeship with one of our partner training providers and combine the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Programme – Leadership Academy with a Masters (MSc) in Healthcare Leadership.

24 months to 30 months

Entry requirements
There are three different routes to apply:
- A 2:2 honours degree or above (check with individual provider), plus three years’ management experience
- A degree or equivalent professional qualification, plus five years’ management experience
- No degree, but five years’ management experience (with strong and consistent career progression and achievement)
- All routes require GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above or equivalent qualification. If you do not have GCSE grades but are prepared to study for and complete these whilst on the programme you can still apply

Accreditation
The apprenticeship is a fully accredited programme that leads to an:
- Level 7 Senior Leader Apprenticeship
- MSc Healthcare Leadership awarded by the provider
- NHS Leadership Academy award in Senior Healthcare Leadership
Depending on the provider you may also be eligible for:
- Professional recognition award MCGI (Member City and Guilds Institute)
- Member of the Institute of Leadership and Management
Funding
The Apprenticeship Levy funding available from employers will fully fund the delivery of the Senior Level 7 Apprenticeship and Postgraduate Diploma, ( £14,000 per person).
Learners can progress to complete their MSc in Healthcare Leadership for an additional fee. Please check exact fees with individual providers.
