Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician – Level 3 (with Edward Jenner) Apprenticeship

Plumbing and domestic heating technicians are required to work on typical plumbing elements such as hot and cold water systems and storage, supplies to dwellings and associated pipework, above-ground pipework, connection to below-ground, sanitary pipework, fittings and furniture. Alongside this you will specialise in one of the following areas: Domestic gas fired hot water heating appliances, Domestic air source heat pumps and solar thermal systems or non-domestic plumbing.

This apprenticeship combines the NHS Leadership Academy’s Edward Jenner programme with a level three plumbing and heating technician apprenticeship.

Domestic heating engineer, domestic heating installer and plumber. 

Duration

Four years with a six month EPA period. 

How you will learn

College attendance once a week and a minimum of four days per week in relevant employment. 

What’s covered

You will develop skills in system design, system maintenance, ensuring the effective operation of systems, maintaining a safe working environment, quality development and improvement, commissioning and decommissioning, installing, servicing and maintaining complex systems, fostering effective working relationships, water regulations, unvented systems, and additional gas units.

• This standard aligns with the following professional recognition: EngTech by the Engineering Council through The Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE) and or The Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) for 3. 
• Upon completion of the health and safety assessment, you will have satisfied the requirements to obtain a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card through the Joint Industry Board for Plumbing and Mechanical Engineering Services (JIB-PMES) at the appropriate grade.
