Engineering Technician – Level 3 (with Edward Jenner) Apprenticeship

Engineering technicians take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of the work they undertake within the limits of their personal authority. Engineered and manufactured products and systems that engineering technicians work on could involve mechanical, electrical, electronic, electromechanical and fluid power components/systems.

This apprenticeship combines the NHS Leadership Academy’s Edward Jenner programme with a level three engineering technician apprenticeship.  


Who is it for?

Engineering technician, aerospace technician, aviation engineer, maritime engineering, machinist, mechatronics engineer and toolmaker.

Duration

A total of 42 months plus a three-month EPA period. 

How you will learn

College attendance five days a week for the first year, then one day a week plus assessment in the workplace from the second year. 

What is covered

You will develop skills in applying safe systems of working, making technical contributions to the design, development, quality assurance, manufacture, installation, commissioning, decommissioning, operation, or maintenance of products, equipment, systems, processes, or services, applying proven techniques and procedures to solve engineering and manufacturing problems, demonstrating effective interpersonal skills in communicating both technical and non-technical information, and maintaining a commitment to continued professional development.

Entry requirements

Individual employers will set the recruitment and selection criteria for their apprenticeships. To optimise success, candidates will typically have four GCSEs at grade C/4 or equivalent, including maths, English and a science.
