Installation and Maintenance Technician – Level 3 (with Edward Jenner) Apprenticeship
An electrician’s work is to install, maintain and repair electrical systems. They contribute to the design, development, construction, and maintenance of products, equipment, processes, of electric systems or services. Electrical equipment and systems include switchboards, motors, cables, fuses, thermal relays, protective devices, heating, lighting, air conditioning and metering equipment. An apprentice electrician will learn the necessary skills to work on their own proficiently without immediate supervision in the most efficient and economical manner.
This apprenticeship combines the NHS Leadership Academy’s Edward Jenner programme with a level three installation and maintenance technician apprenticeship.

Duration
Four years
How you will learn
Attendance in college once a week with a minimum of four days per week in relevant employment.
What’s covered
You will develop skills in health and safety, environmental considerations, electrical scientific principles, and technologies. You will gain an understanding of design and installation practices, planning, and overseeing electrical work activities. You will learn to organise and manage the work environment, understand and apply conductor terminations, and carry out inspections, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems. You will apply fault diagnosis and rectification techniques and understand the requirements for electrical installations.
Entry requirements
Level two in English and maths, electrotechnical apprenticeship qualification level three.
Individual employers will set their own criteria.
